影片根据苏兰朵中篇小说《歌唱家》改编。。全片通过故事化的手法和具有影像感的镜头语言，以微观的个人故事拼出“海上福建”的一个个切面，最终用这些切面全面展现出福建独具特色的海洋文化、自然生态环境和当地人与时俱进的生活样貌，记录下福建与自身、与中国、与世界的交流和对话，尽可能完整、立体和丰富的呈现出一个和每个人都息息相关的“海上福建”。印证福建在中国乃至世界海洋文明中的重要地位及积极作用。。
