摩尔与他的部队被空降在临近柬埔寨的河谷地带，这里是北越军的重兵所在，人数弱势的美军陷入了重重包围，伤亡惨重，最后在火炮、直升机的辅助下战局开始僵持。第二天，战斗推进到山丘但仍然无法突破包围，摩尔寻求空军帮助，由于双方距离过近，美军的汽油弹炸伤了部分地面部队。摄影记者乔（Barry Pepper 饰）记录下了战斗中一幕幕残酷的画面。第三天，美军正准备进行决定性的近身战斗，这时空军支援到位了，越军被全灭。。
