The film was written and directed by Stuart Urban, and commissioned to mark the tenth anniversary of the Falklands War. The film was closely based on the historical record, and all of the major incidents portrayed were drawn from contemporary accounts by those who took part. Filming took place on the Falkland Islands and at Ealing Studios. Urban is a fluent Spanish-speaker, and plays an uncredited role as the Argentine radio operator.。専業主婦の宮本夏子（48）は夫・明良（54）から「会社を辞める」と言い出され、驚きで言葉が出なかった。以前から興味があった農業に取り組みたいと言うのだ。いままで専業主婦として家事に全力投球してきた夏子は、家庭の安定が一気に崩されるような思いだった。しかし、娘の華（20）も、息子の孝太朗（17）も、「それぞれが自由に生きればいいじゃない」と言う始末。夏子は不満を感じつつも、ふと「自分も今から就職して働いてみよう」と思い立つ。だが、アラフィフの専業主婦を正社員として雇ってくれる会社はどこにもなく...。そんな夏子がたまたま地元のスーパーマーケットのタイムセールの混乱に巻き込まれ、レジを切り盛りする羽目になり、専業主婦としての力を発揮する。経営不振のスーパーマーケットを舞台に、夏子の新しい人生が始まりを告げた...！。
